There's something magical about a winter wedding when the weather cooperates. When I arrived at Point in View Chapel in Exmouth this February, the sun was shining despite the cold, a welcome surprise after weeks of nonstop rain. It felt like the universe was giving this wonderful couple the perfect day they deserved.

Meeting the Couple
From our engagement session together, I knew this wedding would be special. We had so much fun during that shoot. It was all about capturing those natural, candid family moments that tell the real story.
This couple is incredibly laid-back and fun, and they wanted their wedding day to reflect exactly that: relaxed, casual, and authentically them.
That connection we built early on made all the difference. They trusted my approach, and I was determined to capture their day in a way that felt true to who they are.
Preparation Makes Perfect
Once I knew the venue, I did my homework. I googled Point in View Chapel, checked out photos online, and got a sense of what I was working with, the size, the light, the layout.
The night before, I made sure every battery was fully charged, all my memory cards were formatted and ready to go, and both cameras were synced to the exact same time.
I kept my shot list intentionally small. Just the main moments that absolutely needed to be captured.
Here's why: when you're too focused on checking boxes, you miss the magic happening right in front of you. Those spontaneous, candid moments are where the real emotion lives, and I wanted to be ready for them.
I shot this wedding solo, and honestly, I loved it. There's a certain freedom and connection you get when it's just you and the couple navigating the day together.

When Plans Change (And They Always Do)
Wedding days rarely go exactly to plan, and this one was no exception. Traffic and a few red lights meant some guests arrived later than expected, and the timeline shifted throughout the day. But nothing major just the kind of small adjustments that happen when you're coordinating a celebration.
The key is staying flexible and keeping the couple relaxed. When they're not stressed, it shows in the photos. And that's exactly what happened here.
The Moment That Matters
Can I share something I learned? When it comes to the first kiss as a married couple hold it longer than you think you need to. I mean it. When it's super quick, it's nearly impossible to capture that perfect moment on camera. This couple did it beautifully, and we got stunning shots because of it.
It's these little things that make such a big difference in your wedding photos.

Why This Day Was Special
What made this wedding so memorable wasn't just the beautiful venue or the lucky weather. It was watching two people who genuinely love each other celebrate in a way that felt completely authentic to them. No forcing moments just real joy, real laughter, and real connection.
The relaxed, casual vibe they wanted? It came through in every single frame. From the candid moments before the ceremony to the celebration afterwards, their personalities shone through.
For Couples Planning Their Wedding
If you're planning your wedding and thinking about photography, here's what I want you to know: your day is about you. The more you can relax and be yourselves, the more beautiful your photos will be. Trust your photographer to capture the moments while you focus on experiencing them.
And please, build a little extra time into your timeline. Traffic happens. Family runs late. Dresses need last-minute adjustments. When you have breathing room, you can actually enjoy the day instead of rushing through it.

What This Day Taught Me
Every wedding is a new adventure, and this one reminded me why I love what I do. There's nothing quite like being trusted to document one of the most important days in someone's life. The responsibility is huge, but so is the privilege.
Seeing this couple's faces when they look at their wedding photos knowing I captured exactly what they wanted that's why I do this.
If you're planning your wedding and looking for a photographer who prioritises authentic moments over posed perfection, who will keep things relaxed and fun, and who will work solo to create an intimate, connected experience I'd love to hear from you.
Your day deserves to be captured exactly as it unfolds, with all its genuine joy and beautiful imperfection.
Let's create something amazing together.
